Why Choose a Heat Pump Over a Traditional Hot Water System?

Stiebel Eltron Heat Pumps

Traditional Systems

Upfront Costs

Heat Pump Systems WWK 2220H

Prices for this model vary, with some retailers listing it around $4200 (special EEG deal)

Electric Storage (250-315L)

Approximately $1,100 for the unit, with installation around $500, totalling about $1,600.

Gas Storage (170L, 5-star)

Around $1,400 for the unit, plus $699 for installation, totalling approximately $2,000.

Running Costs

Heat Pump Systems

More energy-efficient, annual running costs are estimated at $280, resulting in $2,800 over ten years. Efficiency is due to the heat pump's ability to extract heat from the air, reducing electricity consumption.

Electric Storage

Annual running costs are about $970, leading to $9,700 over ten years.

Gas Storage

Yearly expenses are approximately $570, totalling $5,700 over a decade.

Environmental Impact

Heat Pump Systems

Comparable to gas storage, with about 8 tonnes of CO₂ emissions over ten years

Electric Storage

Approximately 28 tonnes of CO₂ emissions over ten years.

Gas Storage

Around 8 tonnes of CO₂ emissions in the same period.

Total Upfront + Running Cost Over 10 Years

Heat Pump Systems

$4,200 (upfront) + $2,800 (running) = $7,000

Electric Storage

$1,600 (upfront) + $9,700 (running) = $11,300

Gas Storage

$2,000 (upfront) + $5,700 (running) = $7,700

Significant Energy Savings

Uses ambient air heat to provide hot water with minimal electricity consumption.

WWK 222/222H & WWK 302/302H – Advanced Hot Water Heat Pumps

The WWK heat pump water heater is engineered for superior efficiency and seamless solar PV integration, helping homeowners maximise renewable energy use.

With a 220L tank, it delivers 360L of 40°C shower temperature water (at a 20°C cold water inlet), while the 302L tank provides 540L. Suitable for both hard and soft water areas, it features a maintenance-free, current-impressed anode for durability and ease of use.

Flexible Installation & All-Climate Performance

Designed for indoor or outdoor installation, indoor setups require 13m³ of clear space. The single-piece design ensures easy installation, while the active defrost function supports operation in cold climates, working efficiently in temperatures as low as -5°C.

Superior Energy Efficiency & Smart Features

Operating with low power consumption (under 700W), this system can reduce hot water energy use by up to 74%. It is also compatible with off-peak power where available.

The H models include a smart element to enhance hot water recovery, making it ideal for high-demand households.

User-friendly controls feature three simple buttons for boost, pairing, and emergency modes, along with LED status indicators for easy monitoring. For added convenience, remote operation is available via smartphone or tablet, including hot water boost functionality.

Designed for quiet operation, these models have no compressor in the airflow and feature optimised recirculation air mode. They also utilise the eco-friendly natural refrigerant R290 and seamlessly integrate with photovoltaic systems, enabling homeowners to use self-generated solar energy.

Fault notifications are sent via the app, enabling direct contact with contractors or activation of emergency mode if needed. Additionally, the app tracks runtime performance, helping users monitor efficiency over time.

Users can also set the minimum stored mixed water amount, improving energy efficiency and convenience. The SHP-O 300 and SHP-O 200 Plus heat pumps provide a reliable, efficient, and eco-friendly domestic hot water heating solution—ideal for modern homes looking to save energy, enhance comfort, and eliminate the need for additional heating sources.
